When to call an engineer

Before upgrading an older storage heater

We first establish what the existing off-peak supply actually does. Older storage-heater installations may have a dedicated switched consumer unit, individual fused connections, a contactor or meter-controlled output. A new high heat retention heater should not be specified until the available supplies and circuit condition are known.

Quantum supply arrangement

Modern Quantum installations may require both an off-peak charging supply and a 24-hour supply for controls and fan operation, depending on the model and installation design. The exact manufacturer instructions for the model being fitted take priority over assumptions based on the old heater.

When an upgrade makes sense

Old heater has poor controllability or repeated faults

Room heat demand no longer matches the existing heater

Customer wants better time/temperature control

Existing circuits can be made suitable for the selected model
