Electric system and flow boilers

System and flow boilers are often the better choice where hot water is stored in a cylinder or where a compact heat source is needed for a wet heating circuit. We design around electrical capacity, heat loss and the existing hydraulic system.

Common reasons customers call

Heat-only replacement for radiators
Electric boiler with indirect hot-water cylinder
Compact boiler needed in a cupboard
Heating for an annexe or garden room
Underfloor heating heat source
Replace old Amptec, Aztec, SlimJim or similar flow boiler

What we check before recommending parts

Electric heating faults can be upstream of the appliance. We test in a logical order and keep repair versus replacement as a decision made after evidence, not before.

Required kW output from heat loss
Single or three-phase electrical supply
Pump and expansion arrangement
Cylinder coil and controls
Flow temperatures and zoning
Existing radiator and pipework condition

Important: boiler kW output and cable/protective-device requirements must be based on the actual installation and current manufacturer instructions. We do not size high-load electric boilers from bedroom count alone.

Why flats and London properties are a strong fit

Electric boilers are frequently considered where there is no individual gas connection, a flue route is impractical, the plant space is compact or a landlord wants an all-electric refurbishment. The trade-off is electrical demand, so the incoming supply and hot-water expectations must be checked early.

Berkshire and London coverage

We cover Reading, Maidenhead, Windsor, Slough, Bracknell, Wokingham and surrounding Berkshire areas, plus planned visits in West and Central London including Ealing, Hillingdon, Hammersmith & Fulham, Kensington & Chelsea, Westminster, Richmond and Kingston.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a flow boiler and a combi?

A flow or system boiler heats the wet heating circuit and can heat a separate cylinder; a combi is intended to provide both heating and domestic hot water within one package.

Can an electric boiler work with my existing radiators?

Often yes, after checking heat demand, radiator sizing, controls and system condition.

Can it run underfloor heating?

Many electric boilers can be used with wet underfloor heating when the temperatures, controls and hydraulics are designed correctly.
