The Comet system shown here is a real installation we have worked around, not a manufacturer stock image. EHC's Comet concept combines electric wet central heating with stored hot water in a packaged arrangement, while SlimJim products are compact electric flow boilers used with a separate heating system. That distinction matters when diagnosing no heating, no hot water or a tripping fault.

SlimJim, Comet and packaged electric systems
On a SlimJim-style flow boiler, a heating complaint may involve the boiler itself, circulation, system pressure, external controls or electrical supply. On a Comet-style packaged system, stored hot water introduces cylinder controls and immersion/heat-source considerations as well. We identify the exact arrangement before ordering parts or quoting replacement.

Electrical capacity before replacement
Electric boiler replacement is not simply a like-for-like wall swap. We confirm the appliance rating, phase/supply arrangement, protective device, cable route and the property's available electrical capacity. For larger loads, especially in flats or where other high-demand electric appliances are present, this check can prevent nuisance tripping and an under-designed installation.

Repair versus replacement
Where the existing unit is serviceable and the fault is external to the boiler, repair is usually the sensible first route. Replacement becomes more attractive when the appliance is obsolete, repeated faults are occurring, parts availability is poor or the property would benefit from a differently configured boiler/cylinder system.
